Our Journey

NYC Commercial Printing, Done In-House

From Varick Street Litho to VSL Print, our commitment to quality has never wavered.

VSL Print is a family-owned commercial printer founded in 2009 in Manhattan, originally under the name Varick Street Litho. From the start, the idea was simple: keep every step of production in-house so the people who quote a job are the same people who print, finish, and ship it. That control is what lets us catch problems before they reach a press and hold quality steady from the first sheet to the last. It is the model that still shapes the full range of printing services in NYC we offer today.

Today VSL Print runs offset, digital, and large-format printing alongside a full bindery. Brands such as Porsche, Belvedere Vodka, Touchland, Gucci, and Meta's Ray-Ban line have trusted us with work that has to look right the first time, and our profile on CNBC's The Profit with Marcus Lemonis introduced the shop to a wider audience. We still answer the phone the same way and treat a single-box business-card order with the same care as a multi-thousand-piece campaign. You can browse that range of work in our portfolio, from luxury gift boxes to Broadway billboards.

Our Facility

Complete Printing Production in Manhattan

Our Manhattan facility runs a Komori 40" 6-color offset press alongside HP Indigo 7800 and Konica KM1 digital presses for short runs and variable data. Large-format work goes through a Fuji Acuity L flatbed and HP Latex 560 & 830W roll-to-roll printers, and a Zünd robotic cutter handles precise die-cutting and finishing shapes. For embellishment, a Konica Accurio 3600 Shine with an iFoil One press adds foil and specialty coatings in-house. Plates, color, finishing, and shipping all happen in one place, which keeps quality control tight and turnaround short. Because nothing is outsourced, a rush job never sits in a queue at another vendor — we schedule it on our own floor.

Color Standards

Color You Can Repeat

We calibrate our presses to the G7 color standard — the industry method for neutral gray balance and consistent tone across devices. It means the color you approve on the proof is the color that comes off the press, reprints match the original months later, and a job looks the same whether it runs digital or offset.

We proof to that standard and check color on press, so brand colors stay true from the first sheet to the last — and from one run to the next.

We are at 239 West 29th Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10001, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues in Manhattan. The shop is a short walk from Penn Station and convenient to Grand Central, and we welcome walk-ins Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM.

Yes. VSL Print is the current name of the company founded in 2009 as Varick Street Litho. We are family-owned and have kept the same in-house production model and team through the rebrand.

We do. Because offset, digital, large format, and finishing all run under one roof, we can schedule rush jobs without outsourcing any step. Turnaround depends on the run length, stock availability, and finishing, so send your specs early and we will confirm the fastest realistic delivery.

G7 is a calibration method that targets neutral gray balance and consistent tone across devices. As a G7-calibrated shop, we match proofs to press output predictably, which means your brand colors stay consistent across reprints, between digital and offset, and from one batch to the next.

Offset is usually the better value for longer runs and the most exact color control, since plate and ink costs are spread across more sheets. Digital wins for short runs, fast turnaround, variable data, and proofing, with no plate or makeready. If you are unsure, send the quantity and finished size and we will recommend the more economical method.

A press-ready PDF/X is ideal. Build artwork in CMYK, include 0.125" (1/8") bleed on any element that runs off the edge, keep important text and logos at least 0.125" inside the trim, and embed or outline your fonts. Place images at 300 DPI at final size for sharp reproduction. If you are unsure, send your native files and we will prep them.

We stock a wide range of weights and surfaces — uncoated, matte/dull, silk, and gloss coated stocks, plus heavy cover and board for cards, packaging, and signage. Finishing options include soft-touch and gloss lamination, spot UV, foil stamping, embossing, die cutting, and scoring. Tell us the use-case and we will suggest a stock that suits the look and budget.

Common work includes business cards, brochures, catalogs, booklets, postcards and direct mail, presentation folders, packaging, large-format banners and posters, and trade-show graphics. We also handle theater and Broadway printing — playbills, posters, and promotional pieces — alongside marketing collateral for brands across NYC.

No. Our shop is in Manhattan, but we handle files remotely and ship completed jobs anywhere. Local clients can also pick up or arrange courier delivery across the five boroughs.
