How We Work

One Building, Every Step of Production

Most printers broker out at least one stage of a job, which is where deadlines slip and color drifts. We keep offset, digital, large format, and bindery in the same shop, so a Broadway producer and a Wall Street investor-relations team can both count on the same controlled process. That vertical setup is what makes rush work realistic rather than a promise we hope to keep.

Offset for long runs and brand color

Sheet-fed offset is the workhorse for catalogs, lookbooks, annual reports, and any run where ink coverage and consistency matter across thousands of sheets. Because we are G7 color standards, our presses are calibrated to a gray-balance standard that keeps a brand's reds, navies, and skin tones matching from the first sheet to the last and from one reprint to the next. We run process CMYK plus spot Pantone colors for logos that have to hit an exact value, and we proof on a calibrated system so you approve color before the plates ever go on press.

Digital for speed, versioning, and short runs

Digital presses skip plate-making, so they are the right tool for a 250-piece event run, a personalized investor mailing, or a rush reprint when a cast change rewrites a Playbill at the last minute. Variable data lets us swap names, seat blocks, or property addresses across a single run without resetting the job, and short turnaround means a proof in the morning can be a delivered box in the afternoon.

Large format for signage and environments

Lobby posters, step-and-repeats, window clings, foam-core boards, retractable banners, and trade-show graphics all come off our large-format equipment. We print on substrates from 10pt board to rigid PVC and adhesive vinyl, and we mount, laminate, and trim in-house so a theater marquee teaser or an open-house sign is ready to install rather than ready to outsource.

Finishing and bindery that set the tone

The finish is often what a client actually remembers. In-house we run soft-touch and gloss lamination, spot UV, foil stamping, blind and registered embossing, die-cutting, scoring, saddle-stitching, perfect binding, and Wire-O. A luxury invitation might pair a thick cotton stock with copper foil and a deckled edge; a pitch book might want a clean perfect bind that lies flat on a conference table. We match the construction to the use.

Stock & Finish Quick Reference

Text & cover weights

80–100lb gloss or matte text for catalogs and lookbooks; 100–130lb cover for postcards, invitations, and brochure covers; uncoated 24lb writing for letterhead.

Coatings

Aqueous for everyday protection, soft-touch laminate for a velvet feel, gloss laminate for durability, and spot UV to make a logo or image catch the light.

Specialty finishes

Foil stamping, embossing and debossing, edge painting, die-cutting, and custom folds for packaging, menus, and high-end print.

Binding

Saddle-stitch for thinner Playbills and programs, perfect binding for reports and books, and Wire-O for presentations meant to lie flat.

File prep that keeps your deadline

Rush jobs survive on clean files. Send a press-ready PDF at 300 DPI with 0.125" bleed on every edge, fonts embedded or outlined, and artwork built in CMYK rather than RGB so screen color does not surprise you in print. Flag any Pantone spot colors that must stay spot, and keep critical text inside a safe margin from the trim. If a file needs work, our prepress team flags issues before the job moves to press rather than after, which is the difference between meeting an opening-night or Fashion Week deadline and missing it.

Industries We Serve

Commercial Printing for New York Businesses

Every industry prints differently. A fashion house needs foil-stamped lookbooks and luxury packaging; a Broadway show needs window cards and souvenir programs on a tight schedule; a hospital needs compliant patient materials. With years of experience serving New York businesses across dozens of industries, VSL Print understands what each one needs and how to deliver it from our shop at 239 West 29th Street.

We work with creative agencies and design studios, Broadway and theater productions, corporate and financial firms, event and wedding planners, fashion and luxury brands, healthcare and medical groups, real estate developers and brokerages, and restaurants and hospitality groups. Each industry has its own products, deadlines, and standards, and we tailor the paper, finishing, and turnaround to match — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Because we handle design, printing, finishing, and installation in-house, a business gets one team it can trust for everything from a logo refresh to a national rollout. We build print-ready files, match brand colors with G7-calibrated accuracy, and produce the graphics, signage, and collateral each industry relies on — so the look stays consistent whether it is a business card, a trade show booth, or a storefront sign.

Different industries run on different clocks. Theater and events live and die by opening night; finance and corporate work around quarterly and compliance deadlines; retail and restaurants move with the season. We plan production around the dates that matter to your business and offer rush turnaround when the timeline is tight, so the work is ready when you need it.

From a single boutique or restaurant to a great multi-location brand, New York companies of every size come to us because we treat their work as if it were our own. Tell us your industry and what you are printing, and request a free quote — our team will recommend the products, materials, and finishing that fit your business and your budget.

Yes, VSL Print has been printing programs and materials for Broadway productions since 2009. We work directly with producers and theater marketing teams to deliver Playbills, show posters, promotional materials, and merchandise on tight theatrical schedules.

Absolutely. We have established security protocols for handling confidential materials including annual reports before public release, M&A documents, and proprietary investor materials. All staff sign NDAs and we maintain secure workflows throughout production.

We produce the full range of real estate marketing materials including property brochures, floor plans, site plans, offering memorandums, listing presentations, signage (for sale, for lease, open house), and complete marketing kits for residential and commercial properties.

Yes, we work with fashion brands and showrooms to produce lookbooks, line sheets, and catalogs for Fashion Week and throughout the year. We offer a range of binding options and specialty finishes to match each brand's aesthetic.

VSL Print produces custom packaging including boxes, bags, tissue paper, and labels for product launches, limited editions, and ongoing retail programs. We offer die-cutting, foil stamping, embossing, and other premium finishes.

We confirm the schedule for event materials like invitations and programs with your quote. Rush service is available, and simple materials like signage and name badges move fastest. Contact us for specific timelines.

For most jobs we ask for a press-ready PDF built in CMYK at 300 DPI, with a 0.125-inch bleed on every edge and critical text kept inside a safe margin from the trim. Embed or outline your fonts, and flag any Pantone spot colors that need to print as spot rather than convert to process. If you are not sure your file is ready, send it over anyway: our prepress team reviews artwork and flags issues before the job moves to press.

We run both in-house. Offset is the better choice for longer runs and jobs where exact, consistent brand color matters across thousands of sheets, such as catalogs, lookbooks, and annual reports. Digital is faster and more economical for short runs, last-minute reprints, and anything that needs variable data like personalized names or addresses. When you request a quote, we recommend the method that fits your quantity, timeline, and color requirements.

Because all of our finishing happens in the same building, we can offer soft-touch and gloss lamination, spot UV, foil stamping, blind and registered embossing, die-cutting, scoring, and edge painting, plus saddle-stitch, perfect binding, and Wire-O binding. Keeping bindery in-house is also what lets us hold tight rush schedules, since a job never has to go out to a vendor to be finished.

Yes. VSL Print is G7-calibrated, an industry standard for gray balance and tonal consistency. In practice that means your brand colors match from the first sheet to the last sheet of a run, and stay consistent when you reprint weeks or months later. We proof on a calibrated system so you approve color before we go to press.

We regularly produce coordinated packages where the same brand color and stock run across several pieces at once, for example a lookbook, matching invitations, large-format signage, and packaging for a single product launch. Running offset, digital, large format, and finishing under one roof keeps the look consistent across formats and keeps a multi-piece campaign on one schedule.

We are based at 239 West 29th Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10001, open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM. Being centrally located makes hand-delivered proofs, press checks, and rush pickups practical for clients across the city. Call us at (646) 843-0800 to discuss a project.
