Large Format Design NYC
Go big without losing a single detail.
Billboard design, trade show graphics, banner layouts, wall murals, and vehicle wraps — all designed at scale with resolution, viewing distance, and substrate in mind from pixel one.

Large Format Design Capabilities
Every large format project starts with understanding the output — size, substrate, viewing distance, and environment.
Trade Show & Event Graphics
Complete trade show visual systems: backdrop walls, pop-up displays, retractable banner stands, table covers, counter wraps, hanging signs, and floor graphics. Designed for standard booth sizes (10x10, 10x20, 20x20) and custom configurations with attention to sightlines, traffic flow, and brand impact.
Billboard & OOH Design
Out-of-home advertising design optimized for high-speed viewing: bulletins, posters, digital billboards, bus shelters, subway ads, and spectaculars. We design with the five-second rule in mind — bold imagery, minimal copy, and maximum readability at distance and speed.
Banners & Signage
Indoor and outdoor banner design for vinyl, fabric, mesh, and rigid substrates. Retractable banners, pole banners, street banners, construction barricade graphics, and grand opening banners designed with proper grommet and finishing specifications built into the file.
Wall Murals & Environmental
Large-scale wall graphics and murals for interior and exterior spaces. Branded office environments, restaurant feature walls, retail installations, building wraps, and construction hoarding graphics. Designed with panel layouts, seam placement, and substrate specifications included.
Large Format Design Applications
Our designers create scale-appropriate artwork for every large format application across New York City.
Trade Show Displays
Backdrop walls, pop-up displays, retractable banners, and hanging signs designed for maximum impact at Javits Center, Pier 36, and venues across NYC.
Retail & POP Graphics
Window displays, in-store graphics, promotional banners, and seasonal campaign materials sized for retail environments from boutiques to flagships.
Vehicle & Fleet Wraps
Full vehicle wrap designs using manufacturer-specific templates, accounting for body contours, windows, and door handles for seamless installation.
Construction Hoarding
Project site graphics, coming soon campaigns, and branded barricade wraps that turn construction sites into marketing opportunities.
Office & Interior Branding
Feature walls, conference room graphics, lobby installations, and branded environments that transform workspaces into brand experiences.
Outdoor Advertising
Billboards, bus shelter ads, subway posters, and transit advertising designed for maximum impact at speed and distance.
Our Large Format Design Process
From specifications to production-ready files — every step optimized for large format output. When a project is bound for a booth, we can also produce and install the trade show graphics at Javits Center and other NYC venues.
Specifications & Measurement
We gather exact dimensions, viewing distances, substrate requirements, and display hardware specifications. For trade shows, we review booth layouts. For murals and wraps, we work from measurements or site photos with reference dimensions.
Concept & Layout Design
We develop scaled design concepts that account for viewing distance, readability, and the unique challenges of large format. Typography is sized for legibility at distance. Images are evaluated for resolution sufficiency. Color is specified for the target output device.
Production File Preparation
Final artwork is built at the correct scale with proper resolution, bleed, color profiles, and panel layouts. Files are prepared for the specific output method — whether solvent inkjet, UV flatbed, dye-sublimation, or grand format. We include trim marks, overlap specifications, and installation reference marks.
Print Production & Delivery
Files go directly to our large format print department for output on the appropriate device. We proof colors on the actual substrate before running full production. Finished prints are trimmed, grommeted, or mounted as specified and delivered ready for installation.
Design for Print — Not Just for Screen
Large format design is not just scaling up a PDF. It requires understanding how ink behaves on vinyl vs. fabric, how viewing distance changes typography requirements, and how panel seams affect layout composition. Our designers have produced thousands of large format projects and bring that production knowledge to every design. Finished files feed straight into large format printing in NYC on our own wide-format equipment, so the proof you approve matches what comes off the printer.

Large format design is the specialized discipline of creating artwork intended for oversized printing — typically anything larger than 24 inches wide. This includes banners, billboards, trade show displays, wall murals, vehicle wraps, window graphics, and building wraps. It requires understanding of viewing distance, resolution requirements, color management at scale, and substrate-specific design considerations.
Resolution depends on viewing distance. Banners and trade show graphics viewed from 3-10 feet need 150 DPI at full size. Billboards viewed from 50+ feet can work at 25-50 DPI. Wall murals vary by viewing distance. Our designers work with these specifications from the start, ensuring your artwork looks sharp at its intended viewing distance without creating unnecessarily large files.
Yes. We design complete trade show booth packages including backdrop walls, pop-up displays, retractable banners, table throws, counter wraps, hanging signs, and floor graphics. We work with standard booth sizes (10x10, 10x20, 20x20) and custom configurations, providing production-ready files that work with any display hardware system.
Our designers are experienced with all major large format output methods: solvent and eco-solvent inkjet, UV-cured flatbed, latex, dye-sublimation, and grand format printing. We set up files with correct color profiles, bleed specifications, and panel configurations for your specific output device and substrate.
Large format design pricing depends on the scope. A single banner or retractable display design starts at $300-500. Trade show booth graphics packages range from $1,500-5,000 depending on the number of elements. Billboard and building wrap designs are quoted based on complexity. All projects include a detailed estimate before work begins.
Yes. We design full vehicle wraps, partial wraps, and fleet graphics using vehicle-specific templates from major template libraries. We account for body lines, curves, door handles, windows, and other vehicle features. Files are delivered print-ready with proper bleed and overlap for professional wrap installation.
Low-resolution logos are a common challenge in large format work. We can recreate your logo as a vector file (Adobe Illustrator) that scales to any size without quality loss. Vector recreation is included as part of our design service when needed. If your logo has complex photographic elements, we can source or recreate high-resolution versions.
Absolutely. VSL Print operates wide-format printers capable of producing banners, posters, wall graphics, trade show displays, and more. Having design and production in the same facility means your files are optimized for our specific equipment, colors are proofed on the actual output device, and turnaround is faster than sending files to a separate printer.
