Sizes, Specs & File Setup
The standard US business card is 3.5" x 2", and it's still the size that fits every wallet, cardholder, and Rolodex. We also print 2" x 2" squares, slim 3.5" x 1" minis, European 3.346" x 2.165" (85 x 55 mm), and custom die-cut shapes with rounded or square corners. Rounded corners are typically cut at a 1/4" radius.
For best results, set up artwork at 300 DPI in CMYK with a 1/8" (0.125") bleed on every edge and keep important text and logos at least 1/8" inside the trim as a safety margin. Supply PDF, AI, INDD, or high-resolution TIFF files, and embed or outline your fonts. If a color absolutely must match a brand standard, call out the Pantone (PMS) number rather than relying on a screen preview, because RGB monitors and CMYK ink mix color differently.
Choosing the Right Stock
Paper weight is measured in points, where one point equals one thousandth of an inch. A 14pt card is the everyday workhorse, affordable, fast, and sturdy enough to feel professional. Step up to 16pt for a noticeably more substantial card, or 20–40pt ultra-thick when you want the card itself to register as a premium object the moment it's handed over.
Finish changes how the card reads in the hand. Gloss makes photography and saturated color pop; matte and silk lamination cut glare and feel soft to the touch; and an uncoated stock like 100% cotton or kraft takes pen ink well and pairs beautifully with letterpress. If your card needs to be written on, such as a doctor's appointment card, choose an uncoated or matte stock so the ink doesn't bead up. Cards that need a metallic accent get foil stamping in gold, silver, or a custom color, run on dies we make in-house.
Standard cards are among our fastest products, with rush options on select small runs you can pick up at our 29th Street shop. Premium finishes like foil stamping and embossing add a die-making step, and letterpress on cotton stock needs additional production time. We confirm the schedule with your quote.
We offer 14pt and 16pt gloss or matte, 16pt silk laminated, 20–40pt ultra-thick, premium 100% cotton, and kraft and recycled stocks, plus specialty papers like linen. Paper weight is measured in points: 14pt is a solid everyday card, while 32–40pt is roughly double the thickness or more for a heavier, premium feel.
No minimums. Order as few as 50 cards or as many as 50,000, and the per-card cost drops as the run grows. Digital printing keeps short runs economical, while larger quantities can move to offset for the best unit price.

Foil stamping presses a thin metallic or colored film onto the card using a heated die, giving a reflective gold, silver, or custom shade. Embossing uses a die to raise the paper into a 3D relief you can feel. Letterpress presses inked type into thick, soft stock like cotton for a tactile debossed impression. All three are produced in-house.
Yes. Double-sided printing is standard and a smart use of space: keep the front clean for your name and logo, and use the back for a QR code, services list, social handles, or a second language. There is no separate plate charge on digital runs for the second side.
Yes. Uncoated stocks such as kraft and 100% cotton suit organic and sustainable brands, and they accept soy-based inks well. Uncoated and recycled-content papers are also easier to recycle than heavily laminated cards.
Yes. We provide a digital proof for layout and content approval on every job, and a physical proof or press check can be arranged for color-critical work or specialty finishes so there are no surprises on the full run.
