Letterpress
A custom polymer or copper plate presses each color into thick cotton stock, leaving a tactile debossed impression you can feel with a fingertip. One pass per ink color, mixed to a Pantone spec.

How We Print Invitations
An invitation is the first physical thing a guest holds, and the weight of the card, the bite of the impression, and the shift of the foil under light all set expectations before a single word is read. Every job at VSL Print is produced in-house, so design, plate-making, printing, and finishing all happen under one roof. That keeps colors matched from the first proof to the last envelope and lets us hold tight control over scheduling when a mail date can't move.
We start by choosing the right method for the look you want. Letterpress and engraving give you dimension you can feel and pair naturally with thick cotton stock. Foil stamping adds metallic or matte shine in gold, silver, rose gold, copper, or holographic finishes and reads beautifully against dark papers. Flat offset and digital printing handle full-color photography, watercolor artwork, and tight CMYK detail. Many of our favorite suites combine techniques — blind embossing a monogram, foiling the couple's names, and flat-printing the body copy on the same sheet. Couples planning a larger suite can draw on our full range of specialty printing services, from engraved crests to die-cut enclosures.
Paper is half the impression. We stock cotton, linen, vellum, handmade deckle-edge sheets, and recycled options in a wide range of colors and weights. Flat-printed invitations typically run on 110 lb to 130 lb cover; letterpress and engraving move up to 220 lb cotton or heavier, and we duplex sheets together for double-thick cards with painted edges. Finishing touches are handled in the same building: printed envelope liners, edge painting and gilding, rounded or die-cut corners, belly bands, vellum overlays, wax seals, and ribbon.
For the cleanest result, supply press-ready vector PDFs with each ink color, foil, and emboss on its own layer or spot color, set in 100% black with overprint turned off. Include 0.125 inch bleed and crop marks, keep type above 6 pt, and send full-color art as CMYK at 300 dpi. Not print-ready? Our in-house designers can build the files from your direction or refine an existing template. We provide paper samples and printed proofs before any full run so you can see and feel the piece first.

Rush options are available on flat work, and we offer expedited scheduling on specialty finishes when a date is tight.
